Saturdays, November 2, December 7, January 11, March 1, and April 26; 2pm

This year marks the 150th anniversary of Lincoln's Day of Thanksgiving Proclamation. Come discover what Thanksgiving food and festivities looked like in colonial times, Lincoln's times, and our own. After exploring artifacts and images of Thanksgiving history, participants will make their own mini apple pies with an assortment of historical and present-day flavors.

Ages 8 and up, $16 per child ($10 per Member child). Accompanying adults pay Museum admission only: To register, e-mail familyprograms@nyhistory.org

ABOUT SARAH LOHMAN

Sarah Lohman is an "historical gastronomist" featured on William Grimes' show Appetite City (NYC life, channel 25). Find episodes here. She is currently an educator at the Lower East Side Tenement Museum and develops food-based programs for cultural institutions around New York City. ABOUT AT THE KIDS’ TABLE

This is a series of five deep-dive, family programs on New York City's food history inspired by N-YHS collections. In each two-hour program, families learn about historical food traditions and then cook from historical recipes, often using kitchen tools from the past.
